For TTC to save money:
1. Sell all unused buses that are not being used for parts. No sense keeping buses that aren't being used.
2. Lower fares, and charge all same cash fare for everyone. By doing this you encourage people to buy tickets/tokens/passes.
3. Remove the transferable passes. Remove the day pass option, or change the way it's used.
4. Shut off all lights at stations not in use when the system has shut down. Why waste money on electricity that no one is around to use?
5. Reduce the pension amount that employees receive when they retire. Think about how much money is being wasted on these people.
6. Automate as many collector booths as possible to prevent fare skipping. Since either collectors like to sleep on the job or not man their booths, how many people are not paying their fares? If they're automated entrances like most stations already have, you can't get in for free.
To better service:
1. Don't let drivers take personal breaks right in the middle of a route. Make sure that they wait until the route has ended or the bus is out of service before tending to their personal needs.
2. Send drivers to etiquette school. Some drivers need a lesson or 2 in courtesy. They need to be polite to passengers at all times.
3. Use enhanced GPS on the routes like VIVA has. Ensure that the buses are at their stops on time every time.
4. Put plain clothed police on problematic routes. Prevent violence before it happens. Use automated fare boxes.
To better everything overall:
1. Remove all special constables as they do nothing to help anyone. Instead of being on the subways, or buses, they are parked in Home Depot. Since they are useless, they are a waste of money.
2. Make sure that the union takes care of the good drivers and protects them. Enforce the rules and remove all rule breaking drivers from service. Unions should not play kiss-ass with the violators and allow them to get away with it.
3. Avoid using politics to run the system. TTC should not be governmentally controlled.
TTC is a public transit system, and should be made to serve the public, not the employees.

1)Fares can be purchased in a lot more variety or grocery stores therefore eliminate more ticket conductors.Modernize and automate.
2)Person in the booth should have multi responsibilities i.e. security, give directions etc. Just sitting there and selling tickets is not only boring and promote laziness but expensive and a waste of a mind.
3)Do not eliminate customer service who gives directions to riders who call in as this is a good feature.
4)More cleanliness in vehicles and subways. There should have garbage cans or other system so riders can take their trash before getting off.
5)Get rid of the many opportunities for overtime. If there is this many over time needed then hire more staff.
6)Improve service by cutting waste and high operation cost and save money for repairs of aging system and buy new equipment.
7)Allow drivers to take charge of their vehicles. Take more responsibilities in making it a caring environment.Allow them to reprimand someone who vandalize, and litter.
8)Time to have a different union leader. The present union leader promotes lack of accountability. He is good for the bad apples but detrimental for the many good workers.Time to turn the work ethics around.
Adding to the above opinions.
Amalgamate services and workers with the York region and Mississauga regions. This will not only save money but increase the work pool and save a lot of overtime.
