It is such a brilliant idea to listen to music in subway. You will not hear the scream of the break when the subway train stop. You do not need to listen so many apologize and announcement which is not of your interest at all and quite depressing.
As a daily ttc rider, I would rather the service was provided by public service . As long as the quality of the service is maintained at certain level. According the poll http://betterttc.com/content/what-do-you-think-about-ttc, there are a lot to do along the way to chang the result of this poll.
Just 3 things make TTC the best transit system in the world. A TTC every one enjoy. A TTC makes people abandon their car. A TTC make rider and driver both happy. A TTC bring Toronto to the top in the list of the international cities.
What are those three things? Air, sound and visual image.
Air
Clean healthy air are the most important thing. Not only for rider, more for driver. People working for TTC spend much more hours than riders. Website http://qair.org have enough information for this. The most unfortunate thing, you have to breathe the air you think it is not healthy. It is stuffy with dust, chemical contaminate.
Ads on ttc subway are full of images which are depressing, ugurly designed or asking people to call our dear MP or MPP.
Sound pollution has been talked at the beginning of this article.
Those 3 things are not expensive to fix but have overhaul effect to our transit system
