Salary for last 10 years did not increase but housing price have been almost doubled. Housing Affordability are getting lower and lower. Even though the CPI index was well under control. But, the index was not reflecting the increasing price of house.
Who can live without home? The life quality and standard is dramatically decreasing following the uprising of house price. People own a house will have higher property tax. Those people who are not owning a home are hit the most. It is more difficult for young couple. They are not even able to afford to have a baby. This is how the population are declining and we need to immigrant to fill the gap.
It explained the TTC phenomenon. Price will be increased with service cutting. Effective January 30, 2011, TTC staff recommends a 10-cent fare increase to meet the service levels required for the projected increase in ridership. To operate the system, each ride costs $3, on average. With union protection, TTC drivers are demanding and well positioned for negotiation even though they were disarmed with strike right.
But it is still the problem for average TTC workers to keep their life standard with limited wage increase. They are having same problem as everyone else. Of course, they do not need to live on food bank.
