fyi

I live in the downtown area and my handle means always give that 30 seconds of respect when you face anyone who is in the customer service industry
but I also feel this is a 2 way street

as recently as last week I had to travel to an area I was unfamiliar with and had to ask a TTC "Professional" for directions

there was a woman in the ticket booth and she gave me the worst scowl you can imagine and it really made me nervous to even ask

I am the type of person who does show respect and I smile when I ask anyone about anything

the only time this woman smiled was when I thanked her and it looked more like a smile of relief as if she thought "wow ... thank god that is over"

now ya gotta imagine if a person had a language barrier ... were new to the city and under their own stressful situation or a tourist who is going to spend money and you were met with this person with this miserable scowl

this has definitely got to change

Can vouch for such behavour from a collector.

A job in the booth that does not require too much intelligence and skill is not only boring but far too well paid for the responsibility.TTC should reduce the number of collectors. It is the union that fights this reduction.Remember the resistance the union gave when automated token vendors were put in stations? It is too expensive to have someone that give such little value to their job.In this economy a lot of people would love that position. The problem is these collectors like her are bored and treats her job for granted.
