The Assailants Can Be Banned From Using TTC Services
Submitted by felicia.myers on Sat, 09/24/2011 - 12:54As per the latest reports, TTC services are seeking to get an order from the court. They need that the assailants should be banned from using its services. Those who assault the employees of TTC should not be allowed to use the transit services of TTC.
This request from TTC is made after the recent incident that took place in Toronto. A rider once knocked an employee of TTC to the ground and also kicked the door into his face. As per the recent reports, a spokesperson from TTC said that the rider is already been restricted from traveling on the subway system.
This is orders as a part of the person’s bail condition. However, the rider is allowed to travel on the bus system. It is believed that such a ban can be a bit tough to implement. The imposition of bans outright over the assailants can act as a restraint. It can also further lead to more criminal charges in case if the assailant is arrested for some other crime conducting by using the TTC transit services.
If there is an individual who is approved for a bail condition he or she is restricted from using the TTC. It may also happen that the person can be arrested for any other incidents. That person can face extra charges also for breaking the conditions of bail. At present the TTC is experiencing on an average two assaults per day towards its employees. The ratio is showing an increasing trend as compared with the last year.
Along with the increase in number of riders, there is an increase in the number of assaults too. The TTC has introduced varied security campaigns for this. They wish to increase the security and safety of their operators. They have also installed cameras in street cars, buses and new subway trains.
They also have installed barricades on the street cars and buses. The Toronto transit commission helps with the transit services in the entire city of Toronto. It provides different modes of travel such as bus, street cars, subway and more. The TTC is an independent department of the government in the city of Toronto.
The TTC continues to become larger and larger day by day. It has combined the Ridership Growth Strategy, economic recovery and increased gas prices. This has resulted to get a noting of higher records in ridership.
TTC services are also planning to launch a new technology of street cars that can move on the streets of Toronto in the year 2012. Its future planning also includes Spadina subway extension through the limits of the city to Vaughn to be opened in the year 2015. Along with this, it has also planned to launch the new Eglinton subway. They are facing some chief obstructions in the launch of a region wide smart fare card. They are also not able to answer how this will affect the TTC.
